2nd Jazz, Heritage festival features Freelon (via QC Times)

Six-time Grammy Award nominee Nnenna Freelon will headline the second Jazz & Heritage Festival this weekend.

The festival is produced by Polyrhythms, a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to community and cultural arts advocacy. The first two days of the three-day festival will be at Martin Luther King Park in Rock Island, with Sunday activities at the River Music Experience, Davenport.

Friday and Saturday at the park, 7th Avenue and 9th Street, will include a variety of local vendors selling food and crafts. Music on Friday, from 5-10 p.m., will be by The Curtis Hawkins Band and Soul Storm.

Saturday will include a drum circle, the Jesse White Tumblers, RME’s Winter Blues All-Stars, Joshua Forbes, The Kuchina Jazz Collective, Larry Westbrook Jr. and Grammy nominees Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues.
