Concert to pay tribute to late jazz great (via The Morning Call)

A concert of jazz greats to celebrate the life and career of celebrated jazz saxophonist Phil Woods, a longtime Poconos resident who won four Grammy Awards and toured and recorded with Quincy Jones, Billy Joel and others, has been announced.

A Tribute to Phil Woods will be a fund-raiser to benefit  the Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts, which Woods founded.  The Celebration of the Arts also will honor Woods at its 39th annual run Sept. 9-11 at various venues in the borough.

The concert will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at Stroudsburg Area High School, 1100 W. Main St., Stroudsburg.

Woods, who for years lived in Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County, died Sept. 29, 2015, at age 83.
