Jazz House Kids’ ‘Body and Soul’ to feature food, wine and music in Montclair (via North Jersey)

Any elegant yet casual evening in Montclair involves some combination of fine wine, mouth-watering dining, and hot jazz. On Feb. 28, all three elements will be featured together as Jazz House Kids holds its seventh annual gastro-musical “Body & Soul” event, held for the first time at Van Vleck House & Gardens.

The night will be hosted by Jason and Deborah DeSalvo and the Jazz House Kids board of directors. Four of the area’s top restaurants will offer menus that celebrate various styles of jazz and culture, including Montclair’s Pig & Prince and Villalobos, Morristown’s Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen and Verona’s Ariane Kitchen & Bar.

“Body & Soul is the transformation of a venue into jazz clubs,” said Melissa Walker, the world famous chanteuse who co-founded Jazz House Kids with her husband, bassist Christian McBride, 13 years ago. “We’re really excited to place it at Van Vleck House. All of these rooms will get transformed into a different sound, and we’ll feature different wine, and have different foods. The time was really right to move it to the Van Vleck, as well as to invite and incorporate these restaurants. That’s added a really special flair to it.”
