Singer finds new lease on life with 7 Rivers Jazz Band (via Coulee News)

Onalaska’s Judi K would probably rank near the top in any list of the Coulee Region’s hidden musical treasures.

Before moving here in 2003, Judi Klinski (Judi K is her stage name) had a lengthy career as one of the country’s best jazz singers. She’s recorded with the Delmark label in Chicago and the Jazzology label in New Orleans and also on her own label.

Klinski spent 17 years with the Jim Beebe’s Chicago Jazz as well as being the featured singer with Jethro Burns as well as big band outfits like the Dick Kress Swing Orchestra and the Jerry King Orchestra. She’s even listed in the swing category of the jazz history book “Jazz Singers, The Top 500” by jazz historian Scott Yanow.
